Hannah and Jack - Yorkshire

It was a warm September day and the surrounding Yorkshire countryside was just on the brink of turning from luscious green to rusts and reds. Autumn was just around the corner and this brief was perfect for the transition to one of my favourite seasons.

The focus was on soft early autumn hues to give warmth and texture to the designs. Tones of blush and burgundy with accents of caramels and deep reds gave the florals real sophistication when offset against the soft beige of the Ohana Marquee. David Conway Photography captured the day to perfection, showcasing Hannah and Jack’s wedding in the most sublime way.

The showstopper was the floral chandelier, where texture was used in abundance. Architectural pieces of foliage were hand chosen to add drama, however I wanted to keep the design ethereal in feeling and almost delicate, allowing the flowers to have space. It needed to remain natural and reflective of the nature surrounding the marquee setting. Focus blooms of Quicksand Roses, Hydranges, dried elements of Limonium, Allium and trailing Amaranthus danced in cohesion with the mix of foliage. Beech, Oak, Ruscus, Olive, Hawthorne and Smokebush were amongst the greenery chosen to dress the design finishing it off perfectly.

Hannah’s bouquet was just delicious! Finished with trails of burgundy silk velvet ribbon it was a flower lovers dream. Rose after rose variety was chosen to give subtle changes in colour but the stand out flower for me was the black beauty cosmos. Small but mighty, this dainty flower packs a real punch when placed next to lighter tones. Working with light and shade for the bouquet made the end result really effective and reflective of the absolutely stunning bride who held it.

To conclude I have to say that this wedding will go down as one of my absolute favourites. A wonderful client and family made designing this day an absolute dream. Every element was picked to perfection and you could really tell. From the hand made bespoke candle favours made by Hannah’s Mum to the beautiful burgundy bridesmaids dresses and the vintage 1947 bus, it was a day of utter joy.
